What We Believe — School Board
One community. One purpose. One future.

Strong Foundations Come First
We believe core literacy and numeracy skills are the bedrock of every student's future. We will provide more resources to bring the highest quality, evidence-based instructional practices to Delta’s students. Strong foundations are essential to ensure students can become proficient when more challenging and complex learning is presented.

Safe Schools Strengthen Communities
We support proven partnerships that help students feel safe, supported and connected. Delta's unique School Liaison Officer Program brings together schools, families and police to build positive relationships, provide education on emerging challenges and promote early interventions that support student wellbeing and safety.

Every Student Deserves to Succeed
We believe every young person in Delta should be held to high expectations and graduate with the skills, confidence and opportunities they need for lifelong success. That means removing the barriers - social, economic and systemic - that stand between any learner and achieving their full potential.

Healthy Students are Ready Students
We believe that physical and mental wellbeing are inseparable from academic success. We will expand the support that helps students manage life's challenges, so that when they walk through the school door, they are resilient, healthy and ready to learn.

Great Educators and Support Staff Build Strong Schools
Student success begins with exceptional people. We believe attracting, supporting and retaining outstanding School District leadership, teachers and support staff is one of the most important responsibilities of a Board of Education. That means advocating for adequate funding, investing in professional learning and ensuring staff have the support and tools they need to meet the increasingly complex needs of today’s classrooms.

Effective Management Builds Public Trust
We believe effective governance and stewardship of resources begins with listening to our community and education partners and making decisions that reflect shared priorities. By aligning budgets, resources and long-term planning with the district's strategic goals, we can strengthen student outcomes, improve operational efficiency and ensure sustainable stewardship of public resources.

Belonging Isn't Optional - It's Essential
We believe schools should be places where every student and staff member feels safe, seen and respected. When students feel they belong, they learn better, stay longer and achieve more. We are committed to building learning environments that celebrate every background, foster belonging and make inclusion a lived reality.
